One hundred years ago, my great grandfather, James B. Guthrie, a cotton farmer near Memphis, was granted the first of three patents for new harrow designs - a farm implement used to break up soil for planting. His inventions, forward-thinking, and gumption are the inspiration for this company.
Successful farming embodies a mix of the right tools and intuition. It’s the same with marketing your business. One of the greatest marketers of our time, Bob Pittman, the co-founder and creative force behind MTV and now CEO of iHeart Media, calls it Math & Magic and has a podcast using the name.
The point is, marketing combines science and art, or as I like to call it, tech and voodoo. Everybody has the same tools and tech, but not everyone understands the voodoo!
